This refurbishment has truly made its mark on downtown Byron Bay, breathing new life into a historic hotel. As you stroll past the building, the expansive sliding windows offer a glimpse into the contemporary kitchen and dining area, blending modern design with the hotel’s rich heritage.
The transformation began with a complete overhaul of the dated kitchen. The space was gutted entirely, with walls removed and new footings and steel beams installed to improve both the layout and functionality of the area. The renovation preserved the charm of the hotel while enhancing the space for modern use.
A standout feature of the project is the exposed brick wall, which was stripped of its old, peeling render to reveal its raw beauty. The remnants of the original fireplace are embedded within the brickwork, providing a striking focal point that connects the past with the present.
With the addition of new hardwood floors, timber paneling, and a fully upgraded kitchen featuring stainless steel benches and energy-efficient appliances, this heritage hotel now boasts a sophisticated, contemporary space that honors its history while offering guests the best in modern comforts.
